Your first stop will be Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century and surrounded by multiple entrances that all lead to the apex of the main worshiping deck. Next, ride a cycle rickshaw (pedi-cabs) through the narrow lanes of Old City that wrap around Chandni Chowk, the ancient market that continues to thrive. The energy in the streets is palpable. The colors and aromas of the city are enticing. The scent of cardamom and allspice is exotic and rejuvenating. Local men sit and sip their tea at chai stands. The spices emanate from the beverage and linger in the air. A walk through the aromatic spice market, Khari Baoli – Asia’s largest wholesale spice market, would add an unforgettable memory of Old Delhi. While at Old Delhi, discover diverse culinary traditions and delectable flavours at every bend of the road as your Sita guide takes you on a special food walk through the Walled City. As you walk through the narrow lanes, you will discover an entire lane devoted to selling only deep-fried stuffed flatbreads (called the parathewali gali) to famous shops selling succulent, melt-in-the-mouth lamb kebabs and fragrant curries, this a treat for all of the senses and an integral part of the Old Delhi experience. Spend time in the community kitchen manned entirely by volunteers who feed up to 100,000 people every day for free.
A tour of the kitchen in the temple is one of the most unique food experiences in India. It is a mammoth task to feed the huge number of people that visit the temple everyday. The kitchen runs for almost 20 hours each day and apart from the handful of people employed by the temple authorities, most of the work is done by volunteers. There is no better way to experience this than to be a part of the cooking of the day! Spend about an hour in the kitchen premises helping with the chores related to the cooking process at that time. After that, in the true spirit of community eating, you will have a meal in the dining hall amidst thousand others.
Night visit to Golden Temple for evening ceremony
Visit the Golden Temple and join the pilgrims to witness the “Palki Sahib or Going to Bed Ceremony”. During this time, the Granth Sahib (the holy book) is carried on a silver palanquin from the main shrine to the sanctum where it rests for a few hours until the opening ceremony the following morning.

More sightseeing opportunities await you today! First, take a tour of the rural lifestyle and enjoy lunch. Then, visit the Wagah Border for the closing ceremony!
Rural Lifestyle Tour with lunch
Travel on the outskirts of the city for a sneak peak into the traditional rural lifestyle. Enjoy a sumptuous traditional lunch made of homegrown vegetables with your friendly local host. Built out of love, this stunning palace-like structure is extravagant both at a distance and up close.
Agra City Tour, including the Agra Fort, Roman Catholic Cemetery and Mission of Charity
Visit the Agra Fort – a UNESCO site. This imposing structure of palaces, mosques and audience halls all contained within its massive walls, was founded by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565. The high red-sandstone ramparts of Agra Fort dominate a bend in the River Yamuna northwest of the Taj Mahal.
Continue your visit to the 18th century Roman Catholic Cemetery - re-living a cross cultural mix that has never made it into history books and traveler's itineraries. Later walk through the Civil lines area and explore the old part of Agra and its hidden alleys.
In the afternoon, volunteer your time at Mission of Charity. Amidst the touristy part of Agra, it is heartwarming to see great love and care in this place. It is eye opening and deeply touching when seeing so many people ranging from babies to old folks are being taken care of. There are around 45 children in their care, some very young, some with disabilities. There are also over 100 adults that are unable to care for themselves.
