Day 1. Welcome to Munich!
Say "willkommen" to Germany! Upon arrival in Munich, pick up your rental car and drive to your accommodation in the Bavarian capital. The remainder of the day is yours to explore Munich. The city is home to famous attractions like the Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt, and the Hofbrauhaus beer hall.Â
Munich is also the gateway to the Bavarian Alps and is famous for its annual Oktoberfest in September. On your first night, stroll through Marienplatz, a spectacular, lively square full of history!
Check-in - Arthotel Munich
Enjoy a stay at the Arthotel Munich, which offers easy access to the Munich Central Station and the famous Oktoberfest site. Day 2. Munich - Neuschwanstein & Linderhof Castles - Fussen
Leave Munich today and drive approximately 80 miles to Fussen. Along the way, you won't want to miss two splendid castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria (also known as the "Mad King“). Visit the jaw dropping Neuschwanstein Castle, which inspired Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle, and Linderhof, inspired by Versailles.Â
You may also want to visit the village of Oberammergau, known for its handcrafts and Passion Play, which has been performed every decade since 1634. In the evening you will arrive in Fussen, located in the southernmost part of the Romantic Road.

Today, you will continue on to Innsbruck! Located in western Austria and surrounded by high mountains, Innsbruck is an enchanting city to explore. Spend the evening strolling around, perhaps even visiting the World of Swarovski Crystals!
Check-in - Ramada Innsbruck Tivoli
The Ramada Innsbruck Tivoli is located in the center of Innsbruck and directly across from Olympia World, the largest sports and event center in Tyrol. From the terrace on the eleventh floor, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Tyrolean mountains and the world-famous Berg-Isel ski-jump. Spoil yourself with your favorite drink over the rooftops of the most beautiful alpine city!
After a day on the slopes, indulge in a treatment at the full-service spa or enjoy the other amenities, including a fitness center and a steam room. For a free ride to the slopes, hop on the hotel's complimentary ski shuttle. Ramada Innsbruck Tivoli helps provide the perfect winter holiday with ski storage and ski passes. Day 4. Innsbruck - Salzburg
Say goodbye to Innsbruck and hello to baroque Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! Check into your accommodation, then wander through the picturesque old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Resting at the foot of Kapuzinerberg Hill in Linzergasse, the stylish Star Inn Hotel Premium Salzburg Gablerbräu, by Quality sits in the pedestrian zone and historical portion of Salzburg. Day 5. Salzburg
Today you have a full free day to explore Salzburg! Perhaps you can begin at Salzburg's dominating landmark, Festung Hohensalzburg, Central Europe’s largest intact fortress with fantastic views of the city.
Another city highlight is Mozart's Geburtshaus, the place where the composer was born on January 27, 1756. The house is located in Getreidegasse, Salzburg’s popular shopping street.
End the day with a traditional Austrian meal of schnitzel or Tafelspitz at St Peter Stiftskulinarium, the oldest restaurant in Europe in the heart of the city!
Day 6. Salzburg - Berchtesgaden
After breakfast, leave Salzburg and drive approximately 20 miles to Berchtesgaden in Germany, a typical alpine village at the foot of the Watzmann Mountain.
Take your pick of things to do in Berchtesgaden. Put on a pair of overalls and take a tiny train into the Salt Mine, which acted as the backbone of the town’s economy during the 1800s.
At the mouth of the Berchtesgaden National Park, surrounded by the Alps, lies Konigssee (Lake of the King), a must see in Bavaria and one of the most picturesque places in Germany.Â
Check-in - Alpinhotel Berchtesgaden
Located in the beautiful mountains of Berchtesgaden, the Alpinhotel Berchtesgaden is the perfect place to enjoy the Bavarian Alps. Day 7. Berchtesgaden - Lake Chiem - Munich
In the morning, leave Berchtesgaden and drive approximately 100 miles back to Munich. On the way, consider a stop at Chiemsee, a freshwater lake that is often called "the Bavarian Sea."Â
Arrive in Munich in the afternoon and the spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Celebrate your last night at Hofbrauhaus, Munich's oldest beer hall dating back to the 16th century. Take a seat at one of the long wooden tables and enjoy a frosty beer and traditional Bavarian meal!
